The Challenge
A large sterile fill manufacturing facility experienced significant equipment issues during commissioning of a new RODI system that was built and installed by a non-specialist RO equipment vendor. The RO generation system was incurring constant high-pressure alarms, forcing the system to shut down, and ceasing all work on system commissioning and validation activities.
Due to expansion of this facility, the legacy water system could not support the new utility train. As a result, this issue delayed the manufacturing schedule and negatively impacted budget. The customer reached out to the team at Pure Flow for support.
Our Solution
The team at Pure Flow is extremely attentive to detail and is well-recognized in the New England high purity water industry for its distinct problem-solving aptitude. Following the inquiry for assistance from the site facility engineer, the Pure Flow team immediately initiated phone and email dialogue to investigate potential root causes for the system failure. In short time, it was determined that mechanical failure of a pump component was the root cause. In addition to this failure the customer was concerned about their existing membranes being damaged by the high-pressure events.
Pure Flow has a vast knowledge of the ultrapure water industry including where to source critical and often rare components for both legacy and current ultrapure water equipment. In this instance, Pure Flow was a top OEM distributor for the customer’s RO pump. As a result, the Pure Flow team had the ability to request expedited pump repair from the factory. In parallel with the repair, the membranes were sourced and stocked to prepare for the membrane service.
The Pure Flow team then provided technical coverage on site when the pump arrived to perform system startup. Membranes were inspected, operating parameters reviewed, and all customer questions were answered. The system was back up in short order and validation activities commenced immediately. This customer now works with Pure Flow on a routine basis.
Whether dealing with a site challenge like the situation described above, or supporting customers’ critical high purity water systems across New England, Pure Flow strives to maintain excellence in all facets of high purity water.
